DIRETTORE GENERALE

Franco Baldini was born in Reggello (province of Florence) in 1960. After a respectable career as a midfielder in Italian First Division with Bologna, Bari and Pescara, gaining almost 200 appearances, he started a brilliant career as manager in the 1990s. The height of his success came when Franco Sensi called him to be Roma’s transfer counsellor. In a few months’ time, Baldini succeeded in carrying out the challenging task, entrusted to him by the President: he had to build a competitive team with Mr Capello, able to win the championship. They achieved their goal on the 17th of June 2001. After a Supercoppa di Lega and two second places in the Italian championship, Baldini resigned in March 2005, as he wasn’t in tune with the corporate line in those days anymore. In the summer of 2006, new President Ramón Calderón’s Real Madrid called him to be part of Blancos’ club as technical secretary: in Spain, Baldini rejoined Capello on the bench and once again they together brought the Merengues to the top of the Liga, thanks to a memorable victory against Barcelona during a photo-finish. A few months afterwards, in December 2007, Baldini followed Capello on his new adventure with the English national team: in the FA he was appointed General Manager and with this title he would take the team of the Three Lions to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and to the positive qualification for the 2012 UEFA European Championship. After three years of hard work in Great Britain, in the second half of 2011, he got back to his roots: Baldini was chosen by the American management as General Manager of the new AS Roma.

DIRETTORE SPORTIVO

Walter Sabatini was born in Marsciano, Umbria, on May 2, 1955. In the early 70s, he started his football playing career with Perugia, proving to be a promising right wing: despite appearing in Serie A with Roma in the 1976/77 season, his career didn’t fulfill early enthusiastic expectations, especially because of an endless series of injuries. After twelve years on the pitch, in the middle of the 80s, Sabatini passed to the other side of the fence: in 1986 he started to work with Perugia and in 1990 he was put in charge of the youth sector, an assignment that he would also keep with Lazio from 1992 to 1994. In 1994, he started his adventure as Director of Football, at first with Triestina. After this experience, he worked in the same role for Arezzo (second division) and then in Perugia (Serie A), where he contributed to gaining important results with Gaucci’s club. In 2004, he went back to Lazio, where he stayed for four seasons and in 2009 we was hired by Zamparini’s Palermo, who described him as “the real signing of the transfer campaign”. In 2010 he resigned and on June 9, 2011, he became the new A.S. Roma Director of Football.
