NEW YORK, NY (Wednesday, July 17, 2013) – Relevent Sports, a division of RSE Ventures, the sports, entertainment and technology company co-founded by Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, announced today that European clubs Chelsea FC and AS Roma will meet on August 10 at 8 p.m. at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C.
“We’re very excited to be able to bring these two top European clubs back to United States,” said Relevent Sports President and CEO Charlie Stillitano. “The Washington D.C. area is one of the top markets for soccer in the United States and there’s no doubt that this will be a great event.”
One of the world’s most popular clubs, Chelsea recently won the 2012-13 UEFA Europa League only a year removed from winning the UEFA Champions League. This season, the club will once again be coached by Jose Mourinho, who previously led the club to two Premier League titles, two League Cups and one FA Cup from 2004-2007. The club features a roster filled with international stars including Juan Mata (Spain), Eden Hazard (Belgium), David Luiz (Brazil) and Frank Lampard (England).
Chelsea will travel to Washington D.C. following their participation in the 2013 Guinness International Champions Cup. The inaugural edition of the tournament will be played in six American cities from July 27 to August 7 and features Real Madrid, Internazionale, Everton, A.C. Roma, which features U.S national team star Michael Bradley, is one of Italy’s most recognizable and famed clubs. It has won the Serie A title a total of three times and the Coppa Italia nine times. Roma recently hired French coach Rudi Garcia and features club-legends Daniele De Rossi (Italy) and Francesco Totti (Italy), newly-signed Maicon (Brazil) as well as talented youngster Erik Lamela (Argentina). Roma will travel to the nation’s capital as part of its preseason tour which includes a stop in Kansas City where the club will take part in the 2013 Major League Soccer All-Star Game on July 31 as well a stop in Canada to face Toronto FC on August 7.

Tickets start at $38 and will be available via a pre-sale open to D.C. United plan holders, Baltimore Blast season ticket holders and local Chelsea and Roma supporters clubs beginning on Thursday, July 18 at 10:00 a.m. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Saturday, July 20 at 10 a.m. and will be available through Ticketmaster (Ticketmaster.com), D.C.
